The Amitypathers is a networked intelligence community being developed by the London-based organization Amitypath, to bring together the "informally indexed" knowledge and experience needed to solve the tough and niche challenges of our time.
The Amitypather project is about finding the "curious, helpful, and between" types of people in and across diverse sectors to that end, while recognizing and rewarding those who contribute indirectly to solutions by bringing into the community and onto those challenges those who can contribute directly to solutions.
An oft-overlapping project is Amitypath's Walkabouts, which organizes minimally structured "touch grass" opportunities for interaction among and with many in the Amitypather community. This "open-air accelerator" project has grown explosively since 2024, with numerous local events having since emerged across the UK, and in several other locations internationally.
I am working closely with Amitypath on this. I am contributing to design and incentive architecture of the community platform, applying my previous experiences in social mobilization application and research (such as the Crowdscanner project at the Masdar Institute, and the Disobedience Award project at the MIT Media Lab). I am also contributing to the technical design and implementation of the platform, and the analysis and visualization of the data, drawing upon my extensive training and experience in both tech and datavis.
